We Ride
An app for motorcyclists. It records rides, shows the group's live positions on the map and keeps the garage, maintenance and clubs in one place.
When you ride out as a group, someone always falls behind and nobody knows where they are. We Ride shows everyone the group's positions in real time, and records the ride while it is at it.
Features
- Live group rides: every rider sees the others on the map, updated in real time over MQTT, with each one's online or offline status. Anyone who joins mid-ride sees the whole group straight away.
- Ride recording: GPS track stored on the phone, with distance, top speed, moving time, curves and lean. Every ride exports to GPX.
- Garage: several bikes per user, with mileage, maintenance due dates and reminders. The active bike is the one other riders see next to your name.
- Clubs: permanent groups with members, rides and a message board.
- Live Activities on iOS: the ride in progress stays visible on the lock screen.
Architecture
The app is Flutter. I also built the backend: a FastAPI API on PostgreSQL and an MQTT broker (EMQX) for live positions, with access rules that let each rider see only the groups they belong to. Firebase is used for authentication only. There is also a React admin dashboard and a Telegram bot for feature flags.
