Business analysis and project delivery
I’m Felice Zingaro, a Technical Account Manager based in Andria, in southern Italy. For companies starting a software project, I gather the requirements, turn them into specifications the development team can build, and follow the work through to go-live. I work remotely with companies across Italy and abroad.
The problem
Many software projects get into trouble before any code is written: vague requirements, different expectations between those asking and those building, testing left to the last minute. They need someone who talks to both the business and the developers, and keeps hold of the thread until release.
How I work
- RequirementsGathering needs with the stakeholders, to understand what is really needed and why.
- As-is and to-beAnalysing current processes and defining the solution, validated with the tech leads.
- SpecificationsUser stories and specifications the team can estimate and build.
- CoordinationKeeping different teams aligned and making choices that balance complexity, effort and time-to-market.
- UAT and go-liveUser acceptance testing, production release and support in the days that follow.
In practice
- Two large enterprise clients in telco and utilities handled in parallel, with around 10 concurrent requirements.
- Around 30 go-lives overseen in 12 months, from UAT to post-release hypercare.
- Coordination of around 10 developers across mobile, web, backend and support.
- Before that, more than seven years as a developer and software house founder: I know the other side of the table too.
Time and cost
Every project gets its own estimate. Time and cost depend mainly on:
- the size of the project and how many business areas it touches;
- how many stakeholders and teams need aligning;
- whether only the initial analysis is needed or support through to go-live;
- how much documentation has to be produced.
